MANAGEMENT:

Natasha D. Curtis, Artistic Director
As a child growing up in New York City Natasha was extremely shy.  Her mother was concerned about her introversion and had the insight to enroll her in dance classes at a local studio.  Natasha immediately loved the classes and began a journey that would span over 25 years.  While living in NY Natasha worked for the New York City Board of Education.  Through the years she never lost her love for dance.  She attended the University of Maryland and received her BA in dance with a concentration in Contemporary and Choreography.  While at the University of Maryland, Natasha was given opportunity to work with world renown choreographer Risa Jaroslow, and to study with several artists including; Alcine Wiltz, Alvin Mayes, Nejla Yatkin, Maurice Fraga, Alexander Gish, and Karen Bradley to name a few.

During her recent dance career Natasha was featured in the critically acclaimed Beyond Silence that featured at Dance Place in Washington, DC.  She has also performed at the Kennedy Center in Washington, DC.  Natasha’s own choreography Almost… has featured in the Maryland Dance Ensemble Spring Concert, and during the Maryland Day festival at the University of Maryland.  Natasha has choreographed over 200 dances in her career that have been featured in several different venues.

Additionally Natasha’s experience at the NYC Board Of Education serves her as a dance educator.  Natasha holds her teaching certification in Dance from the state of South Carolina Board of Education.  Natasha has taught at several dance studios and has served as a valued faculty member, implementing and running different dance programs for different schools and studios.

Giving back to the community is very important to Natasha, so she is regularly involved in non-profit programs and has taught several master classes throughout the country.  She has served in the Summer Education Program, and Spiritual Enrichment Programs that benefit inner city children.  Recently Natasha began a dance workshop during these weeklong summer camps. Natasha also has volunteered her time and expertise to the Arts with Heart Program that raises much needed arts funding to expose children to the art that normally would not be available to them.

Natasha believes that each dancer is unique and strives to recognize the individual gifts of each of her students.  Parents and students alike enjoy her teaching style and trust her professionalism.

Natasha’s love of dance, commitment to dance excellence, and love of children has led her to found Nirvana Dance.
